The Call of Duty franchise is currently navigating a severe crisis, and its newest Black Ops installment has regrettably exacerbated existing issues while introducing significant new flaws. Central to the problem is the uninspired level design, which fundamentally shifts the game's identity. It increasingly feels like a fantasy shooter with monsters and demons, thereby abandoning the grounded military realism that defined earlier entries. This issue is further compounded by a disastrous and poorly executed co-op campaign. Overall, Call of Duty Black Ops 7 fails to deliver a compelling experience, feeling instead like a parody of Call of Duty Black Ops 2. Given these critical shortcomings, Call of Duty Black Ops 7 is arguably the worst main episode in series history and richly deserves consideration for Worst Game of the Year.
