It's hard to believe that any two-year-old game could be livened up this much with an expansion pack, but Ensemble Studios has pulled off this trick just about perfectly with Age of Empires III The Asian Dynasties. While the core gameplay is still recognizable, this is a great facelift that makes an old friend look young again.
Company of Heroes Opposing Fronts is an excellent expansion to an already great game. This expansion made the original Company of Heroes so much better. Much more depth and more intensity to the gameplay.
It's hard to put the sheer size and brilliance of Assassin's Creed into words. It is an epic game that you have to experience for yourself. With its riveting story, beautiful visuals and surprisingly lifelike world, Assassin's Creed is an incredibly deep, enjoyable game that kept us addicted from beginning to end.
F.E.A.R. Perseus Mandate will probably feel pretty familiar to anyone that has played previous iterations in the series, but is a worthy title for someone new to the scene. and F.E.A.R. Perseus Mandate offers undeniable value for money. If you love first person shooters, you should really check it out.
It's genuinely challenging to find a single flaw in Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare, and I've scrutinized it closely. This game excels in every aspect, from its stunning graphics to its engrossing and intense single-player campaign. It's a rarity to encounter a game that not only meets but exceeds its intended goals, and Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare unquestionably belongs to this exclusive group of exceptional titles.
Hellgate London is one of this year's biggest disappointments. It had a whole bunch of great ideas, but squandered them with weak execution, a variety of technical issues
It's a rare thing when a game comes along with the power to move a player emotionally Mass Effect takes interactive entertainment to breathtaking new heights. Mass Effect is a triumph. A triumph for the science fiction video game, a triumph for the action RPG and a triumph for next generation gaming. And it sets up the sequel perfectly.
The heart of Universe at War Earth Assault is a beautifully crafted strategy game which could have been one of the best things in the genre in years. This just makes it even more tragic that it's let down by a passable but unimpressive graphics engine and utterly dull single-player campaign.
As an action game, Crysis could be the best first-person shooter ever, blending over-the-top gunning and dazzling pyrotechnics with enough freedom to make you feel like the cunning badass you always wanted to be. It's an immensely satisfying, richly detailed experience.
Need for Speed ProStreet is missing most of what made the previous games in the series interesting. Cars and physics shine in this game, but the gameplay gets repetitive in an overlong career mode.
I have a strong desire to savor this game, but my experience thus far has been nothing short of disappointing. The controls are excessively sensitive, making clean driving nearly impossible. The frequency of spinouts at low speeds forces me to abandon the game shortly after starting it. Even minor collisions result in catastrophic head-on crashes into railings. The visuals are breathtaking, but the frustration is overwhelming.
Worldshift is a game that had a lot of potential. It's sad to see such potential wasted when the end result is a poorly executed and rushed title.
The opening sequence is one of the most memorable in recent memory but it is almost as if the developers spent all of their creative energy on it leaving the rest of the game to degenerate into a bland, plot-less mess. So much potential is wasted in poor execution, unfinished code and sloppy graphics that I can only recommend this game if you really have nothing else to play or are simply aching for a new WWII style shooter.
Command & Conquer 3 Kane's Wrath brings the challenge of Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars to a new level with new over-the-top units and an equally overblown campaign. The expansion improves on Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars in every critical area while keeping up the game's fast and furious pace. And as a story-player I enjoyed Command & Conquer 3 Kane’s Wrath mainly because it finally closed some gaps in the storyline.
